The title comes from the Branch's dancing thistle emblem.

This book, published in 2007, celebrates RSCDS Pretoria's 35th Anniversary (25 years as a Branch) - many happy hours spent together. It contains 39 dances, each with music arranged for piano. Most of these tunes are original. The book is illustrated, as is The Dancing Thistles.

We are especially grateful to some well-known dance devisers and musicians for allowing us to include something of their creativity in this Pretoria Branch book. Muriel Johnstone and Ken Martlew composed some of the tunes, while Roy Goldring, Iain Boyd, Malcolm Brown & Duncan Brown all accepted our invitation to contribute dances.
